In September 2007 Fuji-Xerox introduced the DocuPrint C3290 color MFP (print/copy/scan/FAX) in the Asia-Pacific region. With print speeds OEM rated at 30 pages per minute (ppm) for black printing and 20 ppm for color, the C3290 had a slightly higher color print speed than its close relatives, the Dell 3110 and 3115 , that print at 17 ppm color (31 ppm mono). All three have a duty cycle rating of 60,000 pages per month.
Like the Dell 3110 the FJX C3290 toner cartridges are chipped, but the technology is different from other RF chips we have offered to date. The chip board is attached to a housing that contains a wire coil that acts as an antenna/transformer. The development system for these cartridges is somewhat different from what we are used to seeing, also. The toner is a two-part design with toner and carrier being separate. The carrier is placed directly in the developer roller chamber. The sealing system includes two seals – one for the toner port and a second for the carrier.
